Re: Reynard's New Salon in York
Is there any area of our interaction with the mortal populous that is lacking?

"Ah, a man who seeks to make himself useful is much liked and readily wins himself friends. But to be truly admirable, it is important still to know your own heart. Suppose, as a hypothetical, that I told you that we could benefit from someone improving any area of interaction with the mortal population. What area would call to you? What area would be your preference?"

Re: Reynard's New Salon in York
I have some pull within the church, which was an potential vocation of mine before. In addition, being able to placate the local nobles has always been of benefit to the clan, though i must confess, my experience thus far is that England's nobles are a closed off lot. Perhaps my accent offends?
In any event, I also maintain some ties to the occult scenes I pass through, in the event they become useful should my tutelage I. The clan arts continue. That will not be for some years yet, of course, but I hope that a solid grounding in the mystic traditions will encourage my grandsires to approve of my learning. One of my youth has never been so....
My apologies, I've begun to ramble again, haven't I?

As if he was summoned by the mention of commerce Valance arrives at the door to the Salon.
Said quietly to the attendant at the door. "Sir Valance, Baronet of Richmond and the North."

Michael looks briefly at the newcomer, bowing slightly but correctly at his approach.

A pleasure to make your acquaintance, my lord Valence. You say you are a merchant?

*A very large and very obvious mortal walks in, looks around, steps out and escorts the Countessa into the Salon. The Countessa looks around and then smiled warmly at Reynard. She walks over*
Dear Reynard, how does the evening find you? I'm pleased that you had no issues rebuilding your salon to its glory.

Re: Reynard's New Salon in York
Reynard face brightens as he turns to the Countessa:
"Why thank you, Countessa! Welcome, welcome! I am so pleased to have this many visitors. I knew that relocating to York was a good plan. Scarborough, while charming, is a bit remote for many to visit. York on the other hand, is the hub of the domain! Right here in the center of everything! It will be a shame not to be so near to the Toreador community, but hopefully I can cajole them into visiting me often enough. How have you been?"
While Reynard is speaking, the Salon Attendant presents some papers to the Countessa.

Mors watches each guest arrive in turn, giving a small bow to each and then relaxing in his seat and watching the proceedings.

To Michael "Yes, I control a respectable mercantile trading house. We Primarily deal in livestock and food stuffs, including wine and beer, but my guiding principle is to follow the money. Secondary transactions are still mostly in bulk good, timber, metals, quarried stone but we have started some promising new ventures in fashion, and ship building.
I heard your looking to move into the local market. Do you have any holdings or are you looking to build something from the ground up?"

I'm looking to build from the ground up, I think. I've some coin to invest, and trade usually gives some good returns.

"If you're looking for short term investments, I believe that a silk cog is planning on departing soon. You might be able to buy a portion of their cargo space. Long term the local glass market is always under supplied. Especially for those new stained glass windows. The windows in the Lincoln Cathedral are a good example of the styles currently in vogue. If you want a example from a near by source the new Church being raised in Scarborough has one of their windows finished. I believe the window is representing the scene where Jesus answers the Pharisees with 'Let any one of you who is without sin be the first to throw a stone at her.'"

I thought this was a decision best left to the barons of the domain

Re: Reynard's New Salon in York
*Countessa looks over the documents she was handed while continuing to speak*
Relocation does seem to be a smart decision, especially for a Cainite with your social disposition. It is a much easier trip for most.
*She finishes the document and then hands it back to Reynard*
Keep this for your records if you would.
*She turns to Michael*
So, am I right to assume that you are Michael Vladislav of clan Tzimice? Welcome to Yorkshire. I am Countessa Valencia Montalvo, Baroness of Yorkshire. What brings you to our domain?

Re: Reynard's New Salon in York
Opportunity, or, rather the lack of it at home. My grandsire and great grandsire run estates for the Voivode, their broodmate is the prince of Constantinople. Opportunity for advancement is limited if one wishes to trade on more than their name.
i sought opportunity elsewhere and had built enough favor to be granted my request as long as i keep up my studies. My Great Grandsire has always expressed to me a certain regard for your Princes Qualities, so England seemed a fair destination.

"You should reside here in York until the gathering, and then you will be able to speak with the various cainites who already reside in the domain, and better understand which areas have space for additional residents and whose permission would be requisite for you to reside in any of those areas."

Re: Reynard's New Salon in York
Standing up, and setting his mostly full glass of wine on a table nearby.
"Reynard, it is a joy to take ones ease in confines such as this. Lords, Lady, it has been a pleasure but my duties call."
Giving a slight bow to Valance and Valencia, Mors will exit the salon, stopping briefly to pick up his worn equipment.
